Your unemployment benefit account will be effective the Sunday of the week you submit an application. When you apply for unemployment benefits, you can choose to have your account start the previous week if you were unemployed that week.
If you are still unemployed when your benefit year ends, you may be eligible for a new regular state unemployment benefit account. To be eligible for a new account, you must apply for benefits and meet all eligibility requirements. After your benefit year ends, a link to apply for benefits will display on your benefit account home page.
